About me

Born in Istanbul in 2006, Derin Çokşenim is a painter and visual artist whose practice moves fluidly between drawing, painting, and photography. Educated at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting, and enriched by a background in piano at the Istanbul University State Conservatory, she brings a multidisciplinary sensitivity into her work.
Her artistic language is rooted in classical techniques charcoal, oil, and acrylic yet it expands toward contemporary dialogues through photography and socially engaged projects. From an early age, Çokşenim has presented her work in both solo and group exhibitions: first in Alaçatı and Ataşehir, later in the historical Ayios Haralambos Church in Çeşme, where she showcased a series of ten oil paintings. She has received recognition in over seventeen national and international competitions, including the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Painting Competition, the Chamber of Architects Painting Competition, and the joint awards of the Creative Children Association and Aydın Doğan Foundation, where she was honored for three consecutive years. Her work has also crossed borders, earning Silver and Gold Awards in China. .

What I do
In 2023, she completed a residency period at Artopol Art Gallery, deepening her engagement with the professional art world. Her practice is driven by an exploration of form, emotion, and memory—constantly searching for new ways to articulate the human condition through both intimate gestures and collective narratives.
